Get Out: 5 Things to Do This Weekend

Here is a look at some of the family-friendly events going on around Dexter this weekend.

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.

1. The Pink Panther Strikes Again

Where/when: The Ann Arbor Young Actors Guild will present this hilarious comedy on Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the theatre, located at 3300 Lorraine St., in Ann Arbor.

Why go?: Fans of mystery and mayhem will enjoy this delightful caper following the antics of the world’s most unusual criminologist, Chief Inspector Jacques Clouseau, as he fights for his life battling a cast of assassins and Russian agents.

2. Explore Black Pond

Where/when: Saturday from 1-3 p.m. at the Leslie Science and Nature Center, 1831 Traver Rd., Ann Arbor.

Why go?: Participants can hike through the forest to explore Black Pond. Participants will use nets to discover the amazing organisms that make this ecosystem so unique.

Where/when: Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. in downtown Chelsea.

Why go?: The third annual Midwest Literary Walk aims to highlight the power of literature and poetry in everyday life. Local authors will be available to discuss writing techniques and poetry.

Where/when: Sunday from noon to 2 p.m. at in Dexter Township.

Why go?: Kids will participate in a variety of activities such as petting farm animals, getting their face painted and visiting the Easter Bunny while they wait for their turn to hunt for colored eggs.

Pricing: $4 per child in advance and $6 per child at the door. Preregistration and prepayment required for all programs. A Metroparks vehicle entry permit is required to enter any Metropark and is $25 annually for regular admission, $15 annually  for seniors or $5 daily. Call 734-426-8211 to register.

5. Planetarium Show: MarsQuest

Where/when: 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the University of Michigan Exhibit Museum of Natural History, 1109 Geddes Ave., Ann Arbor.

Why go? MarsQuest chronicles humanity’s cultural and scientific fascination with the planet Mars, from early observations of its “canals” to stories like War of the Worlds.
