Here is a look at some of the family-friendly events going on around Dexter this weekend.

With gas prices averaging $4, Dexter Patch went on the hunt to find fun local activities around the area this weekend.

  • Rummage Sale

Where/when:  will hold a rummage sale Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church.

Why go?: You might find a long-lost treasure or a new outfit while supporting this church fundraiser.

  • Stinchfield Woods Cleanup Day

Where/when: Volunteers will be asked to pick up trash, bottles and cans along Toma, Stinchfield Woods, Dexter-Pinckney and North Territorial roads in Dexter Township from 9 a.m. to noon.

Why go?: The annual cleanup day is a great way to get some fresh air and exercise while helping out your neighbors.

  • Strange Creatures of the Spring Pond

Where/when: Gerald E. Eddy Discovery Center, 17030 Bush Rd. in Chelsea; 2-3 p.m. Sunday.

Why go?: Naturalist Tom Hodgson will introduce you to many fascinating and little-known creatures—from delicate damselflies to ferocious diving beetles. You will also learn how to find these creatures yourself and to make your own “Pour-a-Pond."

Pricing: $2 per person or $5 per family.

  • March for Babies

Where/when: , 9 a.m. Sunday.

Why go?: Come support the March of Dimes fundraiser. Activities will include a rock wall, bounce houses, giveaways and food. There will also be several activity tents, including the family teams tent that will offer crafts, a chance to write "thank you" notes to neonatal unit staff and a special tree where people can fill out and attach notes celebrating their children.

Pricing: Donation.

  • Forever Plaid at the Encore

Where/when: , Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sunday at 3 p.m.

Why go?: Audiences will delight in the toe-tapping tunes of the Four Plaids as they perform an evening of classic barbershop hits.

Pricing: Adults (18 and over), $28; seniors (55 and over), $25; youth (17 and under), $25; groups of 10 or more, $22.
