Hudson Mills Metropark Severely Damaged by Storm

Park remains open, but without power.

golf course, near Dexter, suffered significant damage from a tornado that ripped through the area on Thursday. The course is closed until further notice. The main park is currently open without electricity or running water.

Although park personnel have not been able to completely assess the destruction, preliminary reports are that several areas of the course have suffered substantial damage. Trees and household debris are scattered throughout the course. 

“According to neighbors, the funnel touched down on hole nine and stayed a while,” said Jerry Cyr, park operations manager for Hudson Mills Metropark. “We are grateful that no one was injured.”

The main park (east of the Huron River) is open Friday without electricity or running water. Maple sugar programs scheduled for Saturday, and Sunday will be held if the power to the park is restored.  Park conditions are updated at www.metroparks.com.  Anyone seeking information can call the Metroparks Administrative Office at 810-227-2757 or Hudson Mills Metropark (once power is restored) at 734-426-8211.
