Kipper is a Purr Monster

This 4-year-old cat loves to play and nap.

Kipper's nickname should be "lovely purr monster.”

She has been bounced around quite a bit in her short life and is looking for a permanent place to call home. Kipper is 4 years old and has been at the Humane Society of Huron Valley (HSHV) for 72 days now. She's a cat who likes to be the boss and might be best in a home without other cats, but she's a cool cat with a lot of personality. Kipper is a fun gal who would love to spend her days playing, napping and purring as close to you as possible.

The shelter, located at 3100 Cherry Hill Rd. in Ann Arbor, is open for adoptions from noon to 6 p.m. daily. Visit hshv.org to see all the animals available for adoption.

Feb. 22 is Spay Day

It is estimated that 8 million to 10 million animals will enter shelters this year. Pet overpopulation is a real and serious problem.

 Call 888-HSHV-FIX 888-474-8349.
  • Free pit bull spay/neuter surgery for residents of Ypsilanti Township (must show ID).
  • Microchip ID for all cats and kittens — only $15, all year long.

What can you do to help?

  • Get your pet spayed or neutered.
  • Make adoption your first option.
  • Hold a bake sale. From now until Feb. 25, organize and hold a bake sale in honor of Spay Day USA and donate the proceeds to the HSHV’s low-cost spay/neuter fund. The bake sale team that raises the most money will win free HSHV T-shirts and get a tour of the new shelter. For more information, call 734-661-3527.
