Spaghetti dinner to benefit The Salvation Army of Washtenaw
County Girl Guards

The Salvation Army of Washtenaw County (TSA-WC) is hosting an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner fundraiser to benefit its Girl Guard program April 29 from 5-7 p.m. at 100 Arbana Dr. in Ann Arbor.
 
Tickets for the event are $7 for adults, $5 for children ages 4-12 and free for those under 3.
 
“Funds raised from this event will help us maximize our positive impact on the young women of this community,” said Debra Molitor, director of development for TSA-WC.
 
The Girl Guard program teaches girls in grades six through 12 to build self-confidence, explore positive options, take a look at potential careers, learn about the world, discuss current events, volunteer for activities, dig into the Bible and discover how they can make a positive impact.

Antique Appraisal Clinic coming to Dexter

An antique appraisal clinic by DuMouchelle art gallery will be held from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 7 at the , 3443 Inverness St. Scheduled appointments are 15 minutes for one to three hand-carried items. The cost is a $7 donation for every item appraised.

Calling all cancer survivors

Organizers of the want to honor all cancer survivors and invite them to participate in relay festivities this year on May 14. A cancer survivor is anyone who identifies themselves as a survivor, whether it's one day after diagnosis or 25 years after treatment.

On May 14, survivors will kick off the festivities at 9 a.m. with a victory lap, during which time survivors will walk the first lap around the track at and will be cheered on by all participants.

Survivors can register online at www.relayforlife.org/dextermi and click on the "survivors" tab. When you register you will be given a special shirt to wear. After the victory lap, survivors will be treated to a complimentary breakfast.
