News Briefly: Transportation, International Baccalaureate, Relay for Life meetings planned

Here is a look at some of the meetings taking place in Dexter this week.

Community Forum

Dexter Township will hold a community forum titled “Moving You Forward,” from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the township hall. The forum will discuss the future role of public transit in Washtenaw County. For more information, visit www.movingyouforward.org.

International Baccalaureate Program

, and schools are currently reviewing the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) for consideration in the district.

The program, for students ages 3 to 12, focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside.

Principals at the elementary schools will host a presentation at 7 p.m. Feb. 10 at Bates Elementary School for parents.

There is a scheduled PYP presentation to the Board of Education on Feb. 22.

Relay for Life

On Feb. 9, the Relay for Life committee will hold a kick-off event at 7 p.m. at the to launch their fundraising efforts for the year. Residents are invited to attend the kick-off celebration to learn more about the upcoming Relay For Life and how to participate in the fundraiser.
