Power Expected to be Restored in Dexter Area by Saturday

DTE Energy customers in Washtenaw County currently without power can expect to have their lights turned on no later than Saturday evening.

As DTE Energy crews feverishly continue to restore power to thousands of customers throughout Southeast Michigan, roughly 502 customers in the 48130 zip code are still in the dark.

"It looks like we won't be back to normal until late Saturday night," DTE spokeswoman Eileen Dixon told Patch.com on Thursday. "But, that's based on the premise we're not going to get any more bad weather."

210,000 customers in southeast Michigan were without power Thursday afternoon, an increase from 190,000 Thursday morning due to storms that moved through the area, Dixon said.

"All of our crews are working 16-hour shifts and they're working around the clock," Dixon said. "We've got more than 1,000 power lines down (in southeast Michigan). It's a big job ahead of us."

Dixon said most of those without power are consolidated in Oakland County, but there have been outages across the region due to four storms in the last 48 hours.

"The timing has been terrible with the heat," Brian Davey of Dexter Township said. "Yesterday it was so hot, and you couldn't get any relief because half of the businesses in town were without power."

Davey said he's staying with a friend in Ann Arbor through the weekend.

"It's a longer commute to work for me, but I don't have any air conditioning at my house right now, so I don't really have a choice," he said.
