Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy has declared Dec. 21 a day of mourning for the victims of the school shooting.
As requested in the governor’s official statement, the country is asked to observe a moment of silence at 9:30 a.m. Friday morning.
Churches and government buildings, which have the ability, are asked to ring bells 26 times in honor of each victim at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
St. Andrew’s United Church of Christ in Dexter will toll its bell Friday morning as requested.
The church has planned a “Blue Christmas: Service of the Longest Night” at 4 p.m. in the sanctuary. Twenty-six candles will be lit in remembrance of the Sandy Hook Elementary students and faculty. The service is open to the community.
