Ultimate Guide to Halloween Events in Dexter, Chelsea

Here's a look at fun Halloween events happening in the community on Wednesday, Oct. 31.

Halloween is officially Wednesday. See our list of Halloween-related events in the Dexter and Chelsea area and add yours to the calendar of events.

Dexter

  • Downtown trick-or-treating

Businesses in downtown Dexter will pass out candy to little ghosts and goblins from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday. Businesses participating will be marked with a yellow Dexter Area Chamber of Commerce balloon.

  • Village trick-or-treat hours

Official trick-or-treating hours in village neighborhoods will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. For more information, call 734-426-8303.

  • Aubree's Halloween Pizza Party

Bring kids in to Aubree's with their costumes from 3-7 p.m. on Oct. 31 for the kids' Halloween Buffet. There will be pizza, bat wings, cheesy worms, witch fingers, apples and caramel. The price is $4.99.

  • Halloween Candy Buy Back

Area children can bring in unopened Halloween candy to Beacon Dental, 9477 N. Territorial Road (up to 5 pounds) and be paid $1 per pound on Nov. 5. All the candy along with tooth brushes will be sent to U.S. Troops overseas. Anyone can participate from 4 to 7 p.m.

  • Candy Weigh-In

Foggy Bottom Coffee House, 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Bring your little pumpkin to Foggy Bottom after trick-or-treating and weigh in your loot for curiosity's sake. Enjoy some free hot chocolate and doughnuts while visiting with your neighbors.

  • Dexter High School Halloween Concert

A Halloween concert featuring Dexter High School choral groups will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 30 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center.

Chelsea

  • Chelsea Kiwanis Club Halloween Party

Chelsea Free Methodist Church and the Kiwanis Club of Chelsea are joining forces for the party, which will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 31. It will be located in the parking lot of the Cole Funeral Chapel at the corner of East Middle and East streets. At 7:30 p.m., the Kiwanis Club will hold their annual costume judging contest.

Prizes will be awarded for best dressed and most original in the following age categories: 3 years old and under; 4-5 years old; 6-7 years old; 8-9 years old; 10-11 years old; and 12 and older.

  • City of Chelsea Trick-or-Treat Hours

New trick-or-treating hours in the City of Chelsea will run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Oct.31.

  • Supernatural Thriller Christian Roane Premieres in Chelsea

Independent filmmaker Sharad Patel will host a special screening of his feature length narrative thriller "Christian Roane" at the River Gallery in Chelsea at 6 p.m. on Nov. 3. The screening is designed to encourage conversation between Patel and the audience in order to shape the final aspects of the film before it is submitted to film festivals around the world.
