The Salvation Army of Washtenaw County (TSA-WC) is seeking volunteers for the 2012 Red Kettle Campaign.
This year's Red Kettle goal of $330,000 will help provide the essential services throughout the year to those in need in Washtenaw County.
“With Ann Arbor’s poverty rate at 24 percent, we expect the demand for assistance to continue increasing,” said Major John Williams. “Every dollar donated in Washtenaw County helps us provide important services to people right here in this community.”
The Salvation Army’s red kettles will be stationed at more than 35 storefronts throughout Washtenaw County, including JC Penney, Busch's, K-Mart, TJ Maxx and Walmart, beginning Nov. 9 through Monday, Dec. 24.
Bell ringers are asked to volunteer for a minimum of four hours at a time, though longer shifts are encouraged. To register for available shift(s), visit www.registertoring.com/washtenaw. For more information, call Kristen Brundage at 734-668-8353.
Online Red Kettle contributions to TSA-WC can be made at www.sawashtenaw.org.
In 2011, TSA-WC helped provide more than 12,200 meals and 17,300 nights of shelter to families, veterans and individuals in Washtenaw County.
