Weekend Countdown: For the Love of Birds

Start the first full weekend of 2012 with a blast of fresh air and a morning of birding in Dexter.

Happy new year! We've made it through the holiday crunch, and we know you're probably looking forward to a quiet January weekend. With that we suggest:

Bird Hike at Hudson Mills

  • Where:
  • When: 8 a.m. Saturday
  • Pricing: $3 per person. Remember, the metroparks charge a per-vehicle entry fee, which is $5 if you don't already have an annual pass.
  • Why Go: Head out early Saturday morning for a hike at Hudson Mills. Bring your binoculars so you can wander the trails with the group and spot our feathered friends. A number of habitats will be explored, and this will help track bird trends.
