Weekend Craft Show Benefits Dexter Relief Fund

Representatives from area home-based businesses will sell products at the American Legion Hall in Dexter on Saturday.

Area crafters and home-based business vendors are hosting a craft fair at the on Saturday to benefit families affected by the March 15 tornado.

The event is being organized by Little Shoppe Events coordinator Julie Wilkinson, a longtime Dexter resident, and her daughter Valerie Gleason.

"After seeing the destruction from the tornado, I knew we had to do something," Wilkinson said. "We put the word out that we were organizing a fundraiser and the response from people was overwhelming."

The show will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature a variety of crafters and vendors. Admission is $2. Vendors include Stitch 248, Scentsy, Cookie Lee, Thirty-One, Pampered Chef, Sweet Little Parties, Walls Gifts & More, and Hair Candi by Stasi.

All proceeds from the sale of vendor booths and admission is being donated to the American Red Cross and the Dexter Relief Fund.

"The vendors want to do what they can to support the community," Wilkinson said. "Many of them are donating additional items for a raffle to raise more money. It's heart warming to see how many people want to help out."

Wilkinson said the American Legion will have lunches available throughout the afternoon for a small fee.
