Weekend Planner: Go Treasure Hunting in Dexter

Families can "hunt" for treasures at the craft and vendor show at the American Legion, or explore geocaching at local parks.

It's Friday, and that means that the weekend is once again upon us. If you find yourself scouring the Internet for something to do this weekend, check out events on Patch.com.

1. Craft fair

Little Shoppe Events, in conjunction with the Dexter American Legion, will host a craft show benefit for tornado relief efforts. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, and will feature a variety of crafters and vendors. Admission is $2.

All proceeds from the sale of vendor booths and admission is being donated to the American Red Cross and the Dexter Relief Fund. There will also be many donated items from vendors for raffles. For more information, visit www.littleshoppeevents.com or email littleshoppeevents@gmail.com.

2. Geocaching in Dexter parks

The Dexter Parks Geocache Trail will open on Sunday with an official kick-off and demonstration by the Michigan Geocaching Organization at beginning at 2 p.m. Learn how to search for hidden treasures in Dexter's seven parks.

3. Dexter Community Orchestra’s chamber music series

The Dexter Orchestra’s Chamber Music Series begins with an afternoon performance by individual ensemble groups at 2 p.m. Sunday at the . These performances allow orchestra members the opportunity to group themselves into smaller more intimate groups and to showcase their individual musical skills through their composition selections. The event is free and open to the public.

4. Encore Musical Theatre presents Godspell

Come sing along and tap your heels to the sounds of Stephen Schwartz and John-Michael Tebelak's musical Godspell at the . Performances are at 8 p.m. Friday, 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, and 3 p.m. Sunday.

5.Easter egg hunt

Peace Lutheran Church in Dexter is inviting the public to come out and have some fun during the church's annual Easter egg hunt on Saturday.

The event will feature three egg hunts divided into appropriate age groups (preschool and younger, kindergarten through third grade, and third through fifth grade) at Tyler Steffey Memorial Field. Events kick-off at 10:30 a.m., with a magic show by Twist and Shout the Magician.
