Your Guide to New Year's Eve Events in Metro Detroit

Here's a look at dinners, parties and other events happening on the last night of the year.

From dancing and dinners to champagne toasts and late-night coney bars, there's lots happening on the last night of 2012 in southeast Michigan. Here's a roundup of events; add yours to the comments section at the end of the story.

Family-friendly

SRSLY Chelsea New Year's Eve Party from 4 to 8 p.m. The party will take place at Beach Middle School in Chelsea. The event is free and open to the public.

Coalition members are planning games and activities that will appeal to all ages, including team games and competitions (eating contests, relay races, card games), face painting, video games on classroom Smart Boards, cookie-decorating, live music, swimming, basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer, and a chili cook-off.

Northville Nite New Year's Eve from 4-7 p.m.; $2-$10. Travel “through the decades” this New Year's Eve 2012 as you enter the gates you will travel back in time to the Roarin’ 20’s and travel through the decades all the way to the future. Activities include crafts, huge inflatable games, slot car racing, carnival games, entertainment and much more. Northville Rotary Club will be selling hot dogs, pizza, and beverages. A bash with kids in mind at The Memory Room in Clinton Township will have dancing, face-painting and a pizza dinner starting at 7:30 p.m. There is no alcohol allowed at the family-friendly event; there will be a sparkling juice toast at midnight. Tickets are $20 per person and must be purchased in advance by calling The Memory Room at 586-935-7010 before Dec. 28. The Memory Room is located at 20690 Hall Road.

Washtenaw County

Yellow Door New Year's Eve Breakfast for Faith in Action

Todd and Janice Ortbring, founders of the Yellow Door community breakfast fundraiser in Chelsea, will host an event at the Chelsea Community Fair Grounds reception center from 9 a.m. to noon. The menu can be viewed online at http://meetatyellowdoor.blogspot.com/. Guests are asked to make a donation of $15 (or more) at the door. The Chelsea Fairgrounds is located at 20501 Old US-12.

3rd Annual Geezer New Years Party

The third annual Geezer New Year's Party will take place at Live (formerly Live at Pj's), 102 S. First St. in Ann Arbor. Doors open at 6 p.m., and Drivin' Sideways plays 6:30 to 9 p.m. This is a free event, and will be on a first come first served basis.

Cavern Club’s 15th Annual New Year’s Eve Bash 2013

The New Year's Eve party will take place from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. at the Cavern Club, 210 S. First St. Bands include the Killer Flamingos and Riot House. Admission is $49.95. All-night dinner and dessert buffet; party hats and noise makers; champagne at midnight.

Purple Rose Theater New Year's Eve Party

The Purple Rose Theatre in Chelsea will host a New Year's Eve Party on Monday.

The event will begin at 5 p.m. at the Chelsea Village Conference Center and will include cocktails and hors d’oeuvres from around the world, close-up magic with Stuart MacDonald, a sneak-preview performance of The Meaning of Almost Everything -- a world premiere comedy by Jeff Daniels, followed by dinner and transportation to the Purple Rose.

At 8 p.m., guests will enjoy the final performance of "Jeff Daniels: Onstage & Unplugged," with special guests Brad Phillips, Jed Fritzemeier, The Ben Daniels Band and Luc “The Roadie” Daniels. The evening will conclude with a celebratory champagne toast at 10:30 p.m., and transportation back to the Village Conference Center.

Oakland County

Berkley

Even Exchange will play R&B and Motown tunes during the New Year's Eve party beginning at 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, at O'Mara's Restaurant. There is no cover. Novi
