Your Guide to Summer in Dexter

Beginning today, we'll help you prepare for the long, warm days ahead. Here's a list of the main events you won't want to miss in June, July and August — including Dexter Daze.

School's out for summer, so it's time for Patch to help you plan your next three months.

Dexter Summer Concert Series

Tri Kids Tri Ann Arbor

  • When: 8:30 a.m. June 23
  • Where: Portage Lake State Park- just west of Ann Arbor
  • Why go: With the restaurants and shops being open you will have the opportunity to experience the whole village.

4th of July Fireworks

  • Why go: Big Pinky and the Joint Effort Band will perform at the Activity Center from 7-11 p.m., with a break for fireworks at 10 p.m. For information, call Hudson Mills Metropark at 734-426-8211.

Jackson Road Cruise

  • When: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 14
  • Where: 3530 Jackson Road, Ann Arbor.
  • Why go: Come out for a day of fun and nostalgia. Check out area classic cars and listen to music and entertainment throughout the afternoon.

Ann Arbor Art Fair

  • When: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. July 18-21
  • Where: Downtown Ann Arbor
  • Why go: Our mission is to increase public knowledge and appreciation for contemporary fine arts and fine crafts by creating opportunities that connect artists, the Ann Arbor community and the general public to their mutual benefit, culminating in a top quality juried street art fair.

St. Joseph Church Festival

  •  When: noon to 8 p.m., July 21-22 
  • Where: 6805 Mast Road, Dexter.
  • Why go: Enjoy games, food, entertainment, rides and an afternoon of camaraderie while supporting the local church.

Chelsea Sounds & Sights Festival

  • When: 7-11 p.m. July 26-28
  • Where: Downtown Chelsea
  • Why go: Now in it’s 37th year the festival weekend features many of the popular attractions of previous years including the KidZone, the Friday night Classic Car Show (with over 300 vehicles), Pet Parade and Social Entertainment Tent. Visit www.chelseafestivals.com for more information.

Dexter Daze

  • When: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 10-11
  • Where: , Dexter
  • Why go: This two-day event features more than 100 booths of artisans and crafters, along with free entertainment for the whole family.
