Cub Scout Fall Color Hike Open to the Public

Submitted By Barbara Read

I'm a Boy Scout Unit Commissioner in the Huron Trails District. Today my son and I enjoyed the Cub Scout Fall Colors Hike and on Sunday the weather will be even better.

The event is open to community members, and you don't need to bring a scout to attend! The $4 fee goes toward a patch for each hiker, hot cocoa and trail maintenance. The Camp Munhacke trail is privately owned and not generally available for family hiking.

Camp Munhacke is a couple miles off North Territorial Rd. and only 20 minutes from the center of Dexter.

Check in at the main building just to the left at the end of the parking lot. Many people bring snacks and water for a picnic during the hike. Maps provided, and if the 5 mile loop is too long, just turn around when you are ready and head back to camp.

Cocoa is free. Popcorn and oatmeal creme pies are a throwback to the old days at only 25¢ each. If you carpool with 4 or more people in your car, the popcorn is free, too.

My son and I have gone the last three years and its my favorite cub scout family activity.
