Middle School students from Dexter will highlight the need for severe weather preparedness with a tornado drill on the one year anniversary of the tornado that ripped through their area.
To kick off severe weather season, members of the Michigan Committee for Severe Weather Awareness and Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division will discuss the 2012 tornado and the importance of severe weather preparedness. The students will then demonstrate preparedness techniques in a tornado drill.
Severe weather in Michigan can be deadly. It is important to be prepared before severe weather hits. The Michigan Committee for Severe Weather Awareness is sponsoring Michigan Severe Weather Awareness Week, April 7-13, to encourage all Michigan residents to have an emergency plan in place.
