Join the Metroparks in lending nature a helping hand! Volunteers can register to pull garlic mustard, an invasive plant, from the Entrance Woods at Hudson Mills Metropark. Garlic mustard was introduced to North America from Europe in the 1800s. The plant has no natural predators or competition and has the ability to invade native ecosystems at an aggressive rate. In order to restore balance to natural areas and allow native plants to flourish, continued efforts to remove the plants are necessary. We'll be meeting at the Rapids View parking area at 10:00 am -- look for the white Metroparks truck. We'll wrap things up by 1:00 pm.
Volunteers are encouraged to wear long pants and closed toe shoes and to always dress for the weather. The Metroparks will supply water and a snack -- but it is always advised to bring your own supply of water. All necessary gloves and tools will be provided.
If you are interested in volunteering, please pre-register by contacting Allison Esper, Natural Resources Volunteer Coordinator, firstname.lastname@example.org, 810-227-2757 x6086.
Deadline for registration is Thursday, May 16th.
