Paint Dexter Plein Air Festival

The Village of Dexter will host a Plein Air Festival from August 13 through August 17.  The event is centered on Monument Park and is sponsored by the Dexter Village Arts, Culture & History Committee.  Painters  are encouraged to enter the competition. and the public is cordially invited to attend, free of charge.  Beginning on Tuesday artists will converge on Dexter and register at the tent from 4:30-6:30.  On Wednesday artists will begin painting scenes in and around Dexter, and the public is encouraged to observe them.  On Thursday, August 15, at 4:00 Susan Amstutz will demonstrate painting in Monument Park, and at 7:00 that evening Martha Girsch will lecture on the Plein Air Movement in the Dexter public library.  From 4:00 to 8:00 on Friday Light Pole Banner Artwork, created by students in Dexter Community Schools, will be displayed in the tent gallery.  That evening will feature music by Most Wanted Unplugged.  On Saturday paintings will be judged and offered for sale, and at 3:00 awards will be made for the best three paintings.  The Dexter Symphony Orchestra will perform at 4:00.  At 6:00 The Lewis Jewelers Raffle drawing will take place.  For more information visit www.dextermi.gov/arts or facebook.com/PaintDexter
