Letter to the Editor: Chris Gordon Deserves Re-Election to Dexter School Board II

Chris Gordon is a proven leader and a proven collaborator.

Dear Editor:

I’m writing to endorse Chris Gordon for Dexter Community Schools Board of Education trustee. I’m impressed with Chris Gordon’s service to the Dexter community, past service to our nation, commitment to measurable standards of excellence, and commitment to sound fiscal policy.

I’ve followed the race between Chris and Barbara Read (including Barbara’s myriad postings and comments on Dexter Patch) and I’m skeptical Barbara would stay on topic, prioritize key issues, and work in concert with the existing board members to address priorities.

Chris Gordon is a proven leader and a proven collaborator – evident by how he’s worked in a supportive manner within the board of education to prioritize policies that are in keeping with the District Strategic Plan. To Chris and the board’s credit, they’ve demonstrated fiscal prudence in very difficult times while expanding opportunities for students.

Chris, as part of the communications committee, is involved in the new monthly community/board information exchange sessions created expressly for the community to dialogue with the board (outside structured board of education meetings.)

In 2013 the board will manage a superintendent search and contract negotiations with all four school employee groups. From my own work experiences, I understand it’s crucial to work effectively in a team if you wish to accomplish organization goals and execute existing strategy.

Chris Gordon has demonstrated this ability - I urge you to vote for Chris Gordon.
