Recharging the Batteries

Our site will be updated with regular content throughout the week as Editor Daniel Lai takes some time off for a brief vacation.

Hello Readers!

As every good reporter knows in this business, there comes a time when we have to step back, shut off the computer and cell phone, and "unplug" for a few days in order to recharge our life battery.

For me, that time has come.

After months of covering meetings, events, and elections, I will be taking a few days off to recharge.

I know what you're thinking: "Wasn't he just on vacation six months ago?"

Yes, while I was down in Florida taking in some sun, perhaps blew by, literally. But as you saw back in March, the team at Patch.com jumped right to work, providing you with around the clock coverage of the tornado. Yours truly even cut his vacation short to come back and begin the post-storm reporting.

With fingers (and toes) crossed, I'm hoping another storm will not train its sights on Dexter while I am gone. Rest assured, however, that this site will be well maintained by my fellow colleagues at Patch.com.

If you are inquiring about event coverage or how to post an event on the site, please contact my assistant regional editor, Jessica Nunez. She can be reached at jessica.nunez@patch.com.

And remember, you can always post news stories yourself by going to our announcements section and clicking on the "Add an announcement" button in the upper right-hand corner of the page.

I will be back in Dexter on Aug. 19. Until then, happy reading!
