Area Fire Departments Respond to Barn Fire on Scio Church Road

No injuries were reported from a fire that broke out west of Ann Arbor on Wednesday morning.

Firefighters from Chelsea, Dexter, Scio Township and Manchester responded to an early morning fire on Wednesday that destroyed a family barn.

According to Ann Arbor.com, the barn was located at Scio Church Road near Parker Road and was filled with livestock. Firefighters have not determined how many livestock were in the barn when the fire broke out.

There are six buildings located on the property and at least two of them were damaged, Chief James Payeur of the Chelsea Area Fire Authority told the News. A family of five lived in the home, which was scorched in the back, close to the barn.

Firefighters said at least one propane tank located in the back of the barn exploded during the fire. No injuries were reported.
