Burglary Suspects Hit Church, Business in Lima Township

The following information was supplied by the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

On Nov. 12, deputies with the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to St. Vladimir Orthodox Church in Lima Township in response to a burglar alarm.

Upon arrival, it was discovered that a window had been broken and entry was gained into the church. According to police, unknown suspects rummaged through the main office and stole an unknown amount of cash that had been collected through donations during the weekend. The investigation is ongoing, but there are no suspects at this time.

At about 3 a.m. Nov. 13, deputies were dispatched to 12855 E. Old US-12 for an alarm from the Chelsea Convenience Store. Officers discovered that the front glass door had been smashed out to gain entry into the building. Once inside, unknown suspects stole alcohol and cigarettes before fleeing the scene, according to police.
