Chelsea Man Arrested for Drunk Driving

The following information was supplied by the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

A 34-year-old Chelsea man is in police custody after leaving the scene of an accident on Tuesday.

According to Washtenaw County Sheriff Sgt. Beth Gieske, the accident occurred around noon near the intersection of Dexter Pinckney and Island Lake Road in Dexter Township.

No injuries were reported, however one of the vehicles involved in the crash fled the scene traveling northbound on Dexter-Pinckney Road. Deputies located the vehicle near Wylie Road unoccupied.

The driver of the vehicle was located near by and arrested. In addition to fleeing the accident, deputies believe the driver was under the influence of alcohol.

The suspect was taken to Washtenaw County Jail.

  • Home Invasion

On Nov. 17, deputies with the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the 1800 block of Chickory Ridge in Scio Township in response to a home invasion complaint.

According to police reports, the homeowner stated that between noon and 2 p.m., unknown individuals entered the garage a stole a mountain bike valued at $350. It is unclear how access was gained to the garage.
