Crime Report: Deputies Investigate Home Invasion in Scio Township

The following information was supplied by the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Warrant arrest

On Nov. 1, Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department deputies patrolling the village of Dexter arrested a 31-year-old male in the 8000 block of Main Street on a warrant out of Wayne County. The man was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license, according to police reports.

Home invasion

On Nov. 1, Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department deputies assigned to Scio Township were dispatched to the 5900 block of Villa France Drive in response to a home invasion call. Upon arrival, deputies discovered entry to the home was gained by forcing open a basement window. Multiple items were removed from the property, according to police. The case remains under investigation.

Community forum planned for Wednesday

The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Department will host a community forum centered on the topic of fair and impartial policing. The forum will focus on law enforcement’s efforts to build better community partnerships while employing public safety officers to deliver services in their communities. Other topics include understanding and reducing biased policing practices, properly assessing criminal activity and understanding cultural influences and unconscious biases.

The forum will take place from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office, 2201 Hogback Rd. in Ann Arbor.
