Emotional Woman Crashes Vehicle, Arrested for Drunken Driving in Dexter Township

The following information was supplied by the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

A one-vehicle crash in Dexter Township on Jan. 12 resulted in an arrest for drunken driving.

According to the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched to the area of Island Lake and Stofer roads around 5:30 a.m. in response to a vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, a deputy discovered one lone female occupant in the driver seat of the vehicle crying with a open bottle of beer and and Vodka. According to police, the driver denied drinking anything, however the deputy could smell the odor of alcohol and observed the driver had glassy eyes.

Deputies transported the woman to a nearby hospital, where an alcohol blood test was conducted. Sgt. Keith Flores said the case will be sent to the Washtenaw County Prosecutor's Office once the test results are complete. Flores said an initial preliminary breath test was administered, with results being slightly higher than .15. In the state of Michigan, .08 is considered legally intoxicated.
