Graffiti Vandals Elude Police

The following arrest information was supplied by the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department is seeking any information leading to the arrest of suspects in connection with graffiti found on the East Delhi Bridge in Scio Township last week.

According to Derrick Jackson, community engagement director with the Washtenaw County Sheriff, there have been no further developments in the investigation.

Roy Townsend, county highway engineer, told Patch that three signs, the railings, retaining wall, entrance and abutments were covered in spray paint.

"Replacing the signs and removing the paint is going to cost about $2,000," he said. "That money will come from a maintenance fund that our citizens pay into."

Townsend said the incident is very frustrating.

"We worked hard with the community to have that bridge rehabilitated and to see what some people can do in a short amount of time to something that took us three years to complete is frustrating," he said.

The Washtenaw County Road Commission is asking anyone with any information about the vandalism to call 734-761-1500.
