Ipad, Stereo Stolen from Cars in Dexter Township

The following information was supplied by the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office is investigating the theft of several items from vehicles parked in Dexter Township on Jan. 25.

According to police records, an iPad, credit cards, and other miscellaneous items were removed from a vehicle parked in the 9000 block of McGregor Road between 9 p.m. Jan. 24 and 5 a.m. Jan. 25.

On Jan. 25, deputies were dispatched to the 9000 block of Canal Street in response to a larceny complaint. According to police reports, an unknown suspect or suspects removed a car stereo from a parked vehicle after breaking the window.

Operating under the influence

On Jan. 22 at approximately 5:30 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Dexter-Pinckney and Bell roads in Dexter Township for a single car crash. According to police, a male driver told deputies he swerved to avoid a deer, lost control and ran off the roadway and rolled the vehicle.

Further conversation revealed a strong odor of alcohol coming from the driver. Due to a possible leg fracture, sobriety tests were not performed on scene, Sgt. Keith Flores said. A blood draw was conducted at the hospital and sent to the Michigan State Police lab for analysis. The man was released pending results from the blood test.
