Police Blotter: Deputies Investigate Series of Thefts

The following arrest information was supplied by the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Larceny

  • On Thursday, deputies with the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department assigned to Scio Township were called to the 3000 block of Jackson Road in response to a complaint of stolen sewer covers. According to police records, the case is still under investigation.
  • On Wednesday, deputies assigned to the village of Dexter were dispatched to the 8000 block of Parkridge Drive in response to a complaint of a stolen basketball hoop and stand. According to police, the victims told deputies their portable basketball hoop and stand had been stored near the side of the garage. The victim discovered it missing Wednesday.  The case remains under investigation.
  • Deputies patrolling Dexter Township on Tuesday were dispatched to the 13000 block of North Lake Road in response to a complaint of three stolen manhole covers. The complainant told deputies he discovered the manhole covers missing on Monday. No further information is available.

Home Invasion

  • Deputies patrolling Scio Township responded to a residential burglary complaint in the 3000 block of Jackson Road at approximately 6 p.m. Thursday. According to police, the homeowners told deputies that they were gone from their home during the day. Upon returning to their home in the late afternoon, the victims discovered that their home had been broken into. Entry to the home was gained through a garage attached to the house, police said. The victims reported that the home was ransacked and multiple items were stolen, including a silver ring, brown mink coat and a laptop. The case is under investigation.
  • On Monday, deputies in Scio Township responded to a burglary complaint in the 1300 block of Timmins Way. According to police, a Bose iPod docking station and iPod were taken from the resident's garage. The case remains under investigation.
