Police Blotter: Suspicious Vehicle Spotted in Area

Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to several calls from Dec. 27 to Jan. 3.

Vehicle Fire

On Dec. 27, 2010, officers with the responded to a vehicle fire at Ann Arbor Street and Baker Road. The owner of a 2007 Ford Escort station wagon observed smoke from under the hood. The Dexter Area Fire Department was called to extinguish the fire.

Stolen Property

Between 9 p.m. and midnight Dec. 31, 2010, unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked pickup in the 2000 block of West Northfield Church Road. A wallet was taken from the vehicle.

Suspicious Vehicles

  • On Dec. 31, 2010, a deputy on patrol noticed a suspicious vehicle and occupants parked at a vacant building at North Territorial and Dexter Town Hall. The subjects were removing items from the building. It was determined that the subjects had permission from the building owner to remove the items.
  • About 9:20 p.m. Jan. 3, deputies responded to a suspicious person complaint at McGregor Road and Portage Lake Avenue. It was reported that a black Dodge pickup was driving through the subdivision for a period of time. The vehicle was identified at a nearby location. At this time, officers have not determined who was driving the vehicle.

Disorderly Conduct

On Jan. 2, deputies assigned to Scio Township responded to the 200 block of  Willowtree Lane for a disorderly conduct complaint. The deputies contacted several subjects and determined that one subject was wanted on an outstanding warrant. The subject was arrested without incident and was turned over to the Tecumseh City Police Department.
