Police Blotter: Three Arrested On Outstanding Warrants

Here's a summary of calls to the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department from Jan. 28-31.

On Jan. 29, a Dexter Township resident reported an attempted fraud.  According to reports, the alleged victim had an item for sale on Craigslist.   The seller corresponded with a potential buyer, who reportedly sent the seller a money order with substantially more than the asking price of the item.   The buyer indicated that it was to cover the shipping cost and for seller to send the additional money back.

Sgt. Beth Gieske said deputies discovered that the payment method used for the initial payment (a money order) is fraudulent.  If the seller continued with the transaction they would have lost the merchandise. Gieske said residents should be leery of these types of transaction requests by a buyer. The investigation is on going.
