Police Investigate Gun Theft in Webster Township

The following information was supplied by the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office is investigating the theft of several guns from a residence in Webster Township.

According to police reports, on Jan. 19, a homeowner in the 7000 block of Base Lake called 911 to report several handguns, long guns, and shotguns taken from his unlocked garage. Deputies said the man heard his dog barking and a vehicle idling outside his house shortly before calling 911.

The case is still under investigation.

Credit Card Fraud

On Jan. 17 at approximately 4 p.m., deputies with the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the 6000 block of Mast Road in Webster Township for a credit card fraud complaint. According to police reports, on Jan. 16, the victim's credit card was used to purchase merchandise and ship to an address in Michigan. Sgt. Keith Flores said a security company contacted the victim about the charges. As of Jan. 24, the credit card company has not paid the retailer and the retailer has not shipped the merchandise. The investigation is ongoing.
