Power Tools Stolen in Home Invasion in Dexter Township

The following information was supplied by the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office is investigating a home burglary that took place in the 8000 block of Territorial Road in Dexter Township on Jan. 29.

According to police records, an unknown suspect or suspects pushed through an air conditioning unit, gained entry into the house, and stole several tools and power tools before exiting out the back door. No suspect information is available.

On Jan. 27, a deputy with the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office observed a vehicle traveling 47 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone on Baker Road. According to police records, the deputy stopped a male driver and immediately noticed a strong smell of alcohol. The deputy conducted sobriety tests until the driver became defiant, police said. After refusing to cooperate, a search warrant was approved, and blood was drawn from the driver at Chelsea Community Hospital. The case is open pending results from the Michigan State Police lab.

On Jan. 31, at approximately 4:30 p.m., deputies with the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a business in the 7000 block of Dexter-Ann Arbor Road for a complaint of retail fraud. According to police, as the suspects were leaving the location an employee observed the two suspects concealing items in their jackets as they began walking out the door. The employee recovered the property and called 911.
