Semitruck Strikes Vehicle on Island Lake Road in Dexter

The following information was supplied by the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

A semitruck traveling through the village of Dexter struck a vehicle near Island Lake Road on Oct. 12. According to the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office, the truck driver attempted to back up realizing he could not pass under the railroad bridge. The driver struck a vehicle behind the truck. No injuries were reported.

Suspicious Person

At about 4:20 p.m. Oct. 12, two males were observed taking supplies from the area of Westridge and Dexter-Pinckney Road. According to police reports, deputies located the men and confirmed through the construction company that the men had permission to clean up the properties. No further action was taken.

Property Damage

  • At about 2 p.m. Oct. 11, the driver of a vehicle struck another vehicle traveling on Island Lake and Dexter-Pinckney roads. No injuries were reported.
  • At about 10 a.m. Oct. 7, a deer ran in front of a silver F-150 pickup truck on Dexter Townhall and Territorial roads. Damage to the vehicle was reported.

At about 2:30 p.m. Oct. 11, Washtenaw County Sheriff deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 9000 block of Winston Drive in Dexter Township in response to a weapons discharge complaint. Deputies confirmed the resident was target practicing in a safe manner inside his garage. No further action was taken.
