Sheriff Releases Identity of Man Killed in Vehicle Accident Near Dexter

The cause of the one-vehicle accident remains under investigation.

Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office officials confirmed Monday that Derek Paul Bratton, 24, of Davison, was killed Friday in a one-vehicle accident near Island Lake Road west of Dexter-Pinckney Road in Webster Township.

According to Derrick Jackson, community engagement officer for the Sheriff's Office, Bratton was killed when his 2001 Chrysler Concord struck a tree around 7:30 p.m. Friday. The cause of the accident remains under investigation, he said.

According to an obituary posted on the Allen Funeral Home website, Bratton graduated from Davison High School in 2005, where he played football. He was employed by Frisbie United Van Lines.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd. in Davison.
