Sheriff's Deputy Honored for Quick Response in Webster Township Burglary

Cpl. John Scafasci used the Washtenaw County Sheriff's K-9 unit to catch the suspects during a chase on Jan. 24.

The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office recently honored Cpl. John Scafasci for his involvement in the arrest of two suspects who allegedly burglarized several homes in Webster Township.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Scafasci responded to Webster Township on Jan. 24 for a home invasion in progress. Scafasci engaged in a vehicle pursuit and subsequent foot chase resulting in the arrest of two male suspects from Ypsilanti.

A Sheriff’s K-9 Unit responded to the scene of the arrest and was able to search the area and locate important evidence, including a small caliber firearm and additional stolen property, according to police. The suspects in the case were criminally charged and transported to Washtenaw County Jail.
