Suspects Steal Two Air Conditioning Units from Scio Township Business

The following information was supplied by the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

On Dec. 4, deputies with the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office responded to the 400 block of Little Lake Drive in Scio Township following a complaint that two free-standing air conditioning units were removed from the business. No further information is available.

Property Damage

  • On Dec. 1, deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Main and Central streets in the village of Dexter for a traffic accident. According to police reports, one vehicle was rear-ended by another vehicle while waiting for a pedestrian to cross the street. No injuries were reported.
  • On Nov. 30, deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Dexter-Pinckney and Territorial roads southbound for a traffic accident. According to police records, one vehicle was stopped on Dexter-Pinckney Road at a red light, when it was rear-ended by another vehicle. No injuries were reported.

On Nov. 27, a Dexter woman received a phone call with prefix 876 advising that she had won $1 million, but had to purchase green dot cards to offset some of the charges. An unknown individual advised the woman that he would drop off the money and pick up the cards. The woman purchased $705 worth of green dot cards.

The unknown individual called the following week advising that he would be delayed by one day and asked the victim to give him the serial numbers off of the cards. No money was sent to the woman. The phone number is based in Jamaica. When deputies attempted to call, the suspect hung up and did not answer upon further attempts.

Sometime between Nov. 25-26, unknown individuals entered an unattached barn in the 13000 block of Riker Road in Dexter Township. Deputies discovered forced entry into the barn, however nothing was missing.
