Police: Woman Attempts to Cash Fraudulent Check in Dexter

The following information was supplied by the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

A woman attempting to cash fraudulent checks in Washtenaw and Livingston counties was arrested in Dexter on Jan. 4.

According to police records, the woman entered a business in the village of Dexter near the 7000 block of Dexter-Ann Arbor Road and attempted to cash a fraudulent check for $1,700. Deputies with the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the location and determined that the woman committed the same crime in Livingston County the week prior. The woman was arrested, and the case has been sent to the Washtenaw County Prosecutor's Office.

On Jan. 3, deputies with the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the 7000 block of Dexter-Ann Arbor Road in response to a home burglary complaint.

According to police records, at approximately 3:30 a.m., three masked suspects broke into the home through the back door. All three suspects were wearing gloves. The investigation is ongoing. Sgt. Keith Flores said a vehicle description has not been released yet.

Harassing Phone Calls

Washtenaw County deputies were dispatched to the 3000 block of Bristol Court in the village of Dexter on Jan. 3 after a man reported receiving numerous harassing phone calls from his daughter's estranged husband. According to police reports, the husband was asked not to call anymore. No prosecution is being sought.
