Dexter Contracts With Ann Arbor Landscape for New Trees

Fifteen trees will be installed primarily along Dan Hoey Road and Kensington Street within the village limits.

The Dexter Village Council unanimously approved a two-year contract with Ann Arbor Landscape on Monday to install street trees in the village.

According to a memo sent to council trustees, the village will purchase roughly 15 street trees that will be planted primarily along Dan Hoey Road and Kensington Street, which are two of the “most highly traveled streets within the village,” Allison Bishop, community development manager said.

Bishop told Ann Arbor.com that about 34 trees were damaged by the March 15 tornado.

Bishop said additional services to replace trees on Second and Huron Streets may be recommended in the future once clean-up and recovery efforts have ceased.

The contract would not exceed $7,000 in both 2012 and 2013. Trees will include sugar maple, hackberry, Kwanzan cherry and Winter King Hawthorn.
