Dexter Resident James Davis Joins Arts, Culture & Heritage Committee

The Dexter Village Council appointed James Davis as a member of the committee at its meeting on Wednesday.

The Dexter Village Council appointed resident James Davis to its Arts, Culture & Heritage Committee at its meeting on Wednesday.

A former school teacher, Davis moved to Dexter in 2011 to be closer to his daughters, and has been an active member of the community, attending and volunteering at festivals and events in the village.

Davis said he was encouraged to apply for the open vacancy on the committee after attending several meetings.

"Each meeting revealed intelligent, dedicated, and creative people devoting time and energy to improving life in Dexter," Davis said in his application.

"Strong civic spirit and community cohesion graced all these meetings, greatly impressing and encouraging me," he said.

Davis will join nine other residents on the committe that advises the village council on the development of arts, culture and heritage projects, and encourages public awareness, networking and collaboration.

The committee meets the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Dexter Senior Center.
