Dexter Township Special Meeting Set for Monday

The township board of trustees will meet at 7 p.m. to discuss property acquisition for a permanent fire station.

The Dexter Township Board of Trustees will convene a special meeting today at the township hall to discuss property acquisition for a new fire station.

The board voted 5-2 at its meeting in February to direct Township Supervisor Pat Kelly and Trustees Carl Lesser and Michael Howard to negotiate purchase agreements with three different property owners near North Territorial and Dexter Town Hall roads.

According to Kelly, the board may vote to enter into a purchase agreement for 11485 North Territorial Road. The 5-acre parcel was the planned location for the fire station, however before the board agreed to purchase the land. The owners of the property have since publically stated that they would be willing to sell the land to Dexter Township for its purchase and clean-up costs.
