Election Breakdown: How Did Dexter Residents Vote?

Here is a quick glance at how Dexter area voters cast their ballots in Tuesday's election.

Tuesday's election still has many people scratching their heads. In terms of turnout, roughly 7,000 less voters showed up at the polls across Washtenaw County.

While one vote might not have the power to sway a presidential election, it certainly has a large impact locally.

Here is a look at how the Dexter area voted on several key candidates.

Dexter Village

The race for Dexter Village trustee literally came down to who had the most votes. Paul Cousins had 1,050 votes, followed by Julie Knight (1,033), Joe Semifero (910), and Jim Smith (906).

The race for Dexter Village President also seemed sharply divided among precincts.

Dexter School Board

In the race for the part-time trustee position on the Dexter Community Schools Board of Education, incumbent Chris Gordon lost to challenger Barbara Read by only 433 votes.

Dexter Township

The Dexter Township supervisor race saw candidates rallying core supporters on both sides of the ticket. Voter turnout in the township, however, was down from the 2008 presidential election. The township had 3,837 voters or 77.64 percent of voter turnout in 2012. In the supervisor race, incumbent Pat Kelly defeated challenger Jim Drolett by 81 votes. In the treasurer's race, Libby Brushaber defeated Dana Bullen by 184 votes.
