Village of Dexter Renews Three-Year Contract with Waste Management

Fees for recycling and trash pick-up will not increase in 2013.

The village of Dexter has renewed its contract with Waste Management for refuse and recycle services through 2016.

According to information provided by the village, residents will not see a change in service or an increase in fees for the first year.

The Dexter Village Council approved the contract renewal on Monday, with a 1 percent fee increase in 2014, and a 2 percent increase in 2016.

Currently residents pay $13.39 a month for weekly trash, recycling, and yard waste pickup. That number will increase to $13.52 on March 1, 2014, and $13.79 on March 1, 2016.

Recycling pickup will continue every week, and residents will have the option to use a larger container for free.

"As in the case in every community we service, the village can rest assured that solid waste collection will remain a top priority for Waste Management," Patrick Greve, a Waste Management representative said. "Our goal is to complete this work each week on time and in a manner that will or exceed expectations."

The village's contract with Waste Management was set to expire on Feb. 28, 2013.
