Voter Registration Deadline Nearing for Dexter Election

Dexter residents hoping to vote in the May 7 election should register to vote before the deadline.

The deadline to register to vote in the May 7 election is just around the corner. 

Voters have until April 8 to register at the Dexter Village or Township offices, any Secretary of State office or by mail.

This year, there is a new requirement to register to vote in Michigan. As of March 28, anyone wishing to register to vote must have a photo ID or a signed affidavit with proof of citizenship.

In order to vote, you must:

  • be 18 years or older on or before Election Day
  • be a citizen of the U.S.
  • have lived in Michigan for at least 30 days
  • be registered on or before the close of registration

People who will be unavailable to vote in person on election day can apply for an absentee ballot.

The last day to apply for an absentee ballot is May 4.

Residents can vote absentee until May 6.
