Hello World! Metaphysical Questions Answered!

Samantha Harris will be blogging regarding metaphysical and alternative healing topics (anything from ghosts, natural cancer treatment and the 'world of weird'.) Feel free to ask any questions!

Hi everyone!

Happy Saint Patrick's Day to you all! I am filled to the brim with some delicious corned beef and cabbage! Let's hope it doesn't come back to haunt me...no pun intended. Back to the grind on Monday, but I wanted to take a moment to briefly introduce myself, my background and announce my upcoming blogs.

I specialize in anything regarding the 'world of weird', i.e. metaphysics (not sure what that says about me as a person, ha!). I have had psychic and paranormal experiences since I was a child and began researching case studies and investigations when I was 11 years old. Since I was a senior in high school, I have been performing house blessings and removing negative or severe hauntings for individuals and families alike. I am known as a 'demonologist' to some, but if you were to ball together a paranormal investigator, reverend, psychic, and a spiritual healer, you would get something along the lines of how I function. My heart and soul goes in to my work and I love helping those in need.

I have studied numerous religions and cultures and use what I consider to be the most potent methods for removing a haunting and for spiritual healing. I obtained my B.A. in communications but have a background in abnormal psychology from Michigan State University (Go Green!).

Feel free to ask me a question or advise on an issue you're dealing with. Anything from cryptozoology, deja vu experiences, past lives, hauntings, UFOs, mediumship and psychics, to whatever you can think of! If you're interested in more of my background, feel free to dig around on my website: www.MichiganPRA.com and check out the biography page. I have lots of evidence and interesting things to look at on the site as well!

I will try to keep up with this blog - currently I run my own business, work at UofM, run an organization, take care of my own mini-farm, am fixing up my house to sell and am working with publishers on my upcoming book (comes out March 8, 2014). Lots of things to keep me busy but I'll be sure to answer your questions in a timely manner. Enjoy the holiday and spring is rearing its head finally! Horray!

Light & Love to you all!

-Samantha-

Hello Samantha, since you offered, I would like to pose a question that has been plaguing me for many years- what is the meaning of life (assuming there is one)?
Steven Lai March 19, 2013 at 11:03 pm
Hi Samantha, my mother (God rest her soul) worked most of her life as a nurse at convalescent homes graveyard shift (no pun intended) and would often tell me stories of paranormal activities she witnessed. She often told me of hearing laughter or the voice of a patient that had recently passed away. Lights turning on and off. Things like that. But the thing that would creep me out the most was when she would tell me of seeing mist or smoke-like apparitions moving thru the halls. My mom was very religious so she was never afraid of these things. She would often call out the name of someone who recently passed away and the activity would cease for the rest of the night.
My question is several: What is an apparition? Is it a physical entity? If its not, how is it possible for the non physical to interact with the physical? Is it a form of energy? Is it something from another dimension? How is it possible to see whatever it is? How is able to be photographed? And have you ever seen an actual full bodied spirit or ghost? I'm sorry I have so many questions but this stuff freaks me out. Oh, I also live very close to Soops Cemetary in Belleville and believe I may have experienced something paranormal while walking my dog near the cemetery.

Hello Claus! I laughed to myself while writing that post thinking it would be amusing if someone asked the meaning of life...and along you came with the infamous question!!! :) I really think that the meaning of life includes us learning as many "karmic" or "life" lessons as possible within a lifetime(s), to master our soul's development and our relationships, to help others, etc. Everything we experience here serves a purpose and teaches us whether we are aware of it or not. Each person we encounter serves as a teacher or a student I think? But the key is also to be happy, to surround yourself with positive, loving people and to do things you enjoy! I think taking the "higher road" expedites our learning experiences as well. I could write an entire book about what I think the meaning of life entails...each person has their own unique road to travel, so many different and custom-tailored lessons!

Hi Steven!
Gosh - so many theories and explanations to share but I'll boil it down to the most widely believed/mainstream school of thought. An apparition is believed to be a spirit "manifesting" itself. We are all energy, so essentially a spirit or apparition is indefinitely energy. Spirits are believed to exist on a different wavelength/frequency, hence why they are rarely heard or seen. Much like we can't see infrared, we do know it exists and there are different methods of seeing this light spectrum. I believe spirits exist in a different realm...sometimes this realm of existence and our own mingle, hence the "thinning of the veil" reference which refers to the thin veil between this world and the other side. Sometime the mist or "smoke-like" apparition is called "ectoplasm" which is also another form of energy manifestation. It commonly appears in photographs but is almost never seen with the naked eye. Like your mom demonstrated, most spirits are looking for attention or help with crossing over to the other side so they like to make their presence known. Just remember they were once living people like you and me, had thoughts, feelings, life experiences, etc. and I think it makes it less scary. There are many devices and gadgets to try and see spirits, especially the all-spectrum cameras - amazing! I have seen shadow figures and apparitions but never a spirit that appeared to me as you and I look. Hope this helps! :)

How much are you able to extort from the idiots who hire you? Do you have bundles like buy one ghost extraction, get one exorcism free? How is it that science does not apply to you? You know, with your powers you could win $1 Million by just proving what you say you can do. http://www.randi.org/site/index.php/1m-challenge.html
Samantha E. Harris March 20, 2013 at 03:33 pm
Hi Sean! Unlike many "investigators" I don't charge my clients anything. I do ask that they make a small donation to cover my gas and supplies (usually $20), otherwise I end up paying to help these people. Science does apply - never said it didn't. I appreciate any skeptic, as long as they're constructive and positive about their beliefs...I don't appreciate assumptions and accusations however, especially when someone doesn't take the time to research how I work and what it is that I do exactly, let alone research the field and then decide upon their views. I teach many people to help themselves without me needing to visit or for a donation...I believe everyone is capable of doing the work that I do themselves. Have a great day!
Bob March 21, 2013 at 04:49 pm
Our Lord and savior Jesus Christ didn't die for this! This is sacrilegious! This is not what Jesus gave his life for, so that we can do some sort of devil worshipping. I can't believe I am alive to see this day.
Samantha E. Harris March 21, 2013 at 06:12 pm
Bob, I hope it assures you that I perform house blessings...I don't conjure spirits or demons, I cast them out. Huge difference. Jesus instructed his followers to go and do the same, thus I am doing that work that many fear and hide from. I am a Reverend as well. Thank you for your concern.
Dexter Mom March 22, 2013 at 03:42 pm
Sam, can you tell me what it means when lights go out when I approach? Sometimes they are blown, pop, and fizzle, etc. but sometimes just wink out but later will turn on again after I leave? My whole family notices this and also it sometimes extends to electronic equipment as well. It scares and annoys me. Thanks.
Samantha E. Harris March 22, 2013 at 04:00 pm
Hey Dexter Mom! :)
The exact same thing happens to me! Some people refer to it as "street light interference" or "SLI-ers" but basically your personal energy/aura/magnetic field is a higher level of intensity and can interfere with electronics, lights, battery powered watches, etc. A few times I had been in a very heated argument and when I came in to the house I blew out the kitchen light haha! You might be interested in "working with your chi" which is your personal energy and doing exercises with it. Don't be frightened, it just means you're 'high voltage rock and roll' ;) Just Google search SLI or street light interference and you'll find many others who experience the same thing!

Lighten up Bob.
Don Darnell March 22, 2013 at 06:07 pm
Or, you might need an electrician.
Dexter Mom March 22, 2013 at 06:38 pm
Found a whole book written on this exact thing http://www.assap.ac.uk/newsite/PDF%20pages/Street%20light%20interference.html
Thanks Sam for the info. I know of a few others that do this too, it happens in multiple locations not just home, and all kinds of lights, not just street lights. We also seem to project thoughts that others can pick up, as well as being able to say what others were thinking at the exact same time the thought occurred to the other person. Don, we must be wired differently, but these "metaphysical" things happen a little too regularly, especially with high functioning kids on the spectrum.

I am disappointed that the Patch is introducing a section if "non-news"/ghosts/paranormal on their site. I live this site for all if the real info I need.. I'd be all for a column in natural health info and some of the other things you mentioned, but including ghost sightings and hauntings.. Well, disappointing. Please keep this site in the realm of.. Reality!
Katie Fifelski March 23, 2013 at 01:12 pm
Sorry for all the typos.. Typing from my phone with my reality.. Kids climbing all over me!
Brooke Tajer (Editor) March 23, 2013 at 04:50 pm
Katie, this isn't a column - it's a blog. Anyone can blog and they can blog about whatever topic they chose. It's not something we assign. If you are interested in blogging about natural health or anything else all you need to do is log in and get started. Thanks!
Samantha E. Harris March 23, 2013 at 06:40 pm
Hi Katie and CJ5! Unfortunately I was asked by the Patch editors to do this blog. The problem is, the more you look at this page and comment on it, the more "popular" this blog becomes and is reason why it is placed on the front page. It isn't being featured by any one editor but rather a statistical measure and then featured. Please believe me when I say I am not advertising - my plate is already full with so many things, I am not looking to take on more clients, jobs, etc. I barely have time to keep up with this blog and was hesitant to even start this. But many people, nearly 75% of the population have experienced something "paranormal" and are often looking for advice - I get numerous emails each day asking for help. If this doesn't include you, be glad you're part of the minority. But for many others, they are looking for help. I usually am the last resort and line of hope for people as their church does not offer the service, believes the person is crazy, or does not know how to help, along with many "paranormal groups" that are not helpful. So I try to put my energy into helping others because they have nowhere else to turn. I have many more exciting topics to post about (i.e. reiki, alternative healing, etc.). I am a Dexter native of 19+ years, a graduate, etc. I think the Patch was excited about my upcoming book, TV series, etc and wanted me to participate in this blog for those reasons. Thanks for your understanding and consideration.
Michele Harris March 23, 2013 at 08:38 pm
I'm delighted to see such an interesting blog. All too often we skip through life without asking the serious questions about our own existence and what it means to be human. Undoubtedly there is more to heaven and earth than we understand with just our senses . Nice to explore such topics for a change. Most religions profess a belief in life after death so it should be reassuring to find proof of its existence. I would think that would be comforting to know our loved ones live on after this life, not frightening, nor evil, but reaffirming.
Chris Sayer March 24, 2013 at 03:58 pm
Then by all means don't waste your time reading it. Sounds like your kids need your undivided attention.
gerri hotchkiss March 24, 2013 at 11:09 pm
samantha, the first i really thought, wow they are, my husband and i were racing down the southfield to go watch our first grandchild be born. it must of been alot of enegry, every light down the freeway went out as we passed. i know when people are going to die. my husband thinks i must be crazy, only God knows. well i guess God gave me some forewarning. i do have one question. is it my grandpa, i smell his cigars and baby sister, when i glance at a clock and it is 4:44 the time she was born. i have an illness that i am not going to get well, is it them?
Samantha E. Harris March 25, 2013 at 07:03 pm
Hi Gerri!
Sometimes our loved ones give us a sign that they are "visiting" us with certain smells and perfumes we are familiar with (sometimes their actual personal smell too). If I understand your question correctly, you are concerned that your health is declining and that they are "waiting" for you? I wouldn't assume that they are visiting you because of your illness as if they're "coming to collect you" but rather they may be visiting for support, to show their love, to see how you're doing, etc. I just wrote my second blog about reiki and alternative healing, you might be interested in reading it to see if it will help you? I wish you the very best and a speedy recovery! Laughter and a will to heal, along with alternative healing methods is sometimes very helpful! Let me know how everything is going!
frogella March 26, 2013 at 12:55 am
Love your blog. Keep up the good work. By the way, do you cast out demons such as alcoholism, drug addiction, extreme fear, etc. I do believe these are demons and can be cast out. Have you done this?
frogella
frogella March 26, 2013 at 12:56 am
I feel quite chipper, thank you.
Samantha E. Harris March 27, 2013 at 12:17 am
Hi Frogella! And thank you! I appreciate the support.
Yes! I have many cases, if not all cases, in which a demonic entity is attached or attracted to very negative habits (i.e. alcoholism, substance abuse, domestic violence, sexual abuse/addictions, depression, chronic illness, etc.) If a person is not willing to change these habits it is very likely that the entity will stay attached to them. I do believe there is a difference between what we call "personal demons" and actual demonic entities...but sometimes these topics overlap each other. I always try to tell people to surround themselves with positive, loving people and environments and to stay away from lower level activities as those bad habits, etc. I perform house blessings and cast out what I refer to as "demons" but also human spirits that are severely negative as well. :) Thanks!

I am so sorry to hear of Michelle's passing. She fought very bravely and always with a smile on herRead More face. I am proud to have been able to work on fund raisers with her and will continue to fund raise in her memory. My sympathies to the Mike and the kids. Michelle will be greatly missed.

Agreed!!

When the New and Improved Dexter Patch was introduced, the impetus that 'We,' decided it was needed.Read More It certainly wasn't the well read denizens of Dexter. It has the success of the introduction of the New Coke campaign. FAIL. Bring back the consummate reporter and editor Daniel Lai, who had journalism boots on the ground and through and through integrity.
Erin Paup June 3, 2013 at 10:56 am
The Dexter Patch has become completely unreadable and irrelevant. Starting with the removal ofRead More Daniel Lai, every change has been horrible. This used to be a good source for news. Now it's just a virtual community bulletin board half covered in ads.
Webster01 June 4, 2013 at 05:40 am
Are there actually 'photos' here? With the old Patch format, I used to get an arrow to scrollRead More through multiple photos. If there is more than one 'photo' here, I can't figure out how to see them.
Kimberly June 2, 2013 at 08:30 am
I agree, I look to this for local events and up to date news on things. If nothing else, at leastRead More make news in other communities be about our neighbors like Pinckney or Chelsea and Manchester.
Shawn Letwin June 2, 2013 at 10:02 am
Yes there was a "moving on" story about Daniel Lai (probably up for over a week). TheRead More Patch is "locals" posting "local" events. "We" are the reporters to provide the content for what "we" are looking to be informed about. If we want something different, we need to post it. Patch generates revenue from the content we provide and from the "clicks" we provide
BradP June 2, 2013 at 04:34 pm
I like reading about Chelsea, Pinckney and Manchester. But some of the recent lead stories reallyRead More have no personal factor for me. Probably what I mean by where's Daniel, is more where is the personal touch he added? Where's the local news written by a reporter? The announcements are good as far as they go, but it's hit or miss.
Meg Sharon June 2, 2013 at 08:55 am
Thanks, BradP! There are rational, safety-conscious drivers like yourself in this world too!
Shawn Letwin June 2, 2013 at 12:59 pm
An unfortunate event with no harm to anyone. Great that you saw that as a teachable moment..so inRead More some ways the other guy was on to something :) I have learned that when I point my one finger at someone else for doing something that I thought was wrong, I need to remember that I have 3 fingers pointing right back at me that make me check my part in the situation. The same being said that when I point at someone who I think has something better than me that I need to remind myself of what I should be grateful for. The other guy could have been a straight up jerk, or he has something going on in his life that you were not aware of...cause and effect are not always a straight line.
Meg Sharon June 2, 2013 at 03:33 pm
Perhaps you are right Shawn and she had something traumatic in her life to cause her to bothRead More physically react and scream out the car window at an 8 year old child. Hopefully, she will understand that she over-reacted and we will "bump" into each other again with better understanding, empathy and compassion. It was, as you can imagine, difficult for me to show restraint at such a bully.
BradP June 2, 2013 at 04:53 pm
AA.com tends to be down on Dexter. You get the news but with a lot of lame snarkiness.Read More Schadenfreude: pleasure derived from the misfortunes of others. Patch was always more reasonable and had superior comments, imho. How hard would it be to get a couple of local news articles from actual reporters? I would really like that.
Julie Wilkinson June 2, 2013 at 10:36 pm
Kudos to all of you commenting above. I wrote to the new editors of the Patch about 2 weeks afterRead More Daniel left and complained about the lack of news and especially local info. They told me that things were changing. If this is the change, I will not be reading Patch anymore. What a shame.
Wishful Thinking June 3, 2013 at 10:55 am
Hey, Wishful. - (Fragment, (consider revising) Nice to see that you've found our new Boards section.Read More (Fragment, (consider revising) It's going to be a great place to add community events, such as the Dexter-Ann Arbor Run. Feel free to post about it on the boards in the same way you posted this message. You also can add the event to our events calendar by visiting http://dexter.patch.com/posts/event/new. See you around the site! Flesch-Kinkaid Grade Reading Level, 5.8 The follow data is from Microsoft Office, Version 8.0, spelling and grammar check. This is not the high quality of intellectual banter, community members of the Village of Dexter are accustomed to.
