Dexter Community Schools May Cancel Class Thursday Due to Power Problems

DTE crews are working to restore power at several of the district's buildings.

Good evening Dexter families,

I have some important information I would like to share with you. At this time full power has not yet been restored to four of our six school buildings and the transportation facility. We have been in contact with DTE throughout the day and will continue to monitor the situation throughout the evening and night.  DTE has placed all of the buildings on their priority list but we do not have a firm estimate as to when full power may be restored as there are many areas of the county without power.

The potential does exist that we may have to cancel school tomorrow if we do not have power restored in time to reset the building systems, and get the building safe and ready to promote student learning. This decision will be communicated to everyone through the same means utilized in today’s cancellation based on the inclement weather and road conditions.
