Dexter High School Students "Stuff the Bus" for Faith in Action

Members of the DHS Student Council and Leos Club are collecting nonperishable food items through Nov. 18.

Two Dexter High School groups kicked off the school's inaugural "Stuff the Bus" food drive to benefit Faith in Action this week.

Members of the Dexter High School Student Council and Leos Club are teaming up to help feed hungry families in western Washtenaw County by asking residents to contribute nonperishable food items by Nov. 18.

The clubs hope to fill a trailer parked outside of Busch's Fresh Food Market on Dexter-Ann Arbor Road throughout the week.

"As of Sunday, we've collected 200 cans plus monetary donations," Al Snyder, student council adviser said. "At the end of the campaign, students will take the money we raise and go on a shopping spree for Faith in Action."

Snyder said students have not set a goal, but would like to receive as many donations as possible.

"My hope is we can have the trailer a quarter full by the time we take it to Faith in Action," he said.

Canned goods, nonperishable food items, and toiletries will be accepted.
