Dexter Schools Cancel 'Bus Village' Event Scheduled for Saturday

The district's transportation department will post bus routes online for parents.

Parents and students hoping to familiarize themselves with the Dexter Community Schools bus routes will have to refer to the district’s online website.

Sean Burton, director of transportation for the district, announced Thursday that due to construction near the district’s central hub bus loop on Dan Hoey Road, a proposed “bus village” event on Saturday had to be cancelled. The event is held before the start of every school year to assign students their bus and answer parents’ questions.

“Due to some construction setbacks, we will be unable to host the bus village scheduled this Saturday,” Burton said. “The drivers and staff were very excited to meet and greet the community and showcase the new bus loop.”

Burton said he began posting routes on the website Thursday morning and will continue to post them until they are all online. Burton will also post a drawing of the bus loop with designations where students' buses will be located.

Building principals at each school will have staff available during the first few days of classes to help guide students to their bus, Burton said.
