Mom-to-Mom Sale in Dexter to Benefit Cornerstone Elementary School

Proceeds from the fundraiser will be used for teacher grants.

Are you looking for a way to get rid of those old baby clothes that no longer fit? What about the toys cluttering up the kids' rooms?

The Cornerstone Elementary School Parent-Teacher Group (CPTG) is hosting its second annual Mom-to-Mom Sale on Sept. 24 at Cornerstone Elementary.

The fundraiser allows moms and dads to rent a table for $20 and sell their gently used clothes, toys and other items children have outgrown.

"You can sell anything that fits on the table and set your own prices," event co-organizer Ginger Votaw said. "Parents can make a little back-to-school money and clear out those closets in the process."

Entry fee for the event is $1, and all proceeds will go toward the CPTG's teaching grants, which help fund field trips, musical instruments, science projects and other programs to enhance classrooms.

"We don't make a lot of money on the Mom-to-Mom Sale, but every little bit helps," Votaw said.

Last year the CPTG granted more than $10,000, obtained from fundraising activities, to teachers.

Votaw said the CPTG is expecting close to 40 tables at this year's event.

"We're still looking for more people to sign up before the sale," she said.

Those who wish to donate to the sale without renting a space can drop off items at a special table throughout the day. The sale will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
