New Superintendent to Start August 19

Chris Timmis, the new Dexter Community Schools Superintendent, is scheduled to start working for the district Aug. 19.

An announcement from the Dexter Board of Education states:

The Board of Education is happy to announce that we now have a signed contract with our new Superintendent, Dr. Chris Timmis. Dr. Timmis will be "officially" starting as Dexter's Superintendent on August, 19, 2013. Of course he has already been working with Craig McCalla, our interim Superintendent, and will be working closely with the Board and other District groups even before the 19th. In fact, he has been looking for a house in the area and is hoping to become a Dexterite in the near future.

The board goes on to state that they are in the process of developing a transition place with Timmis. Timmis is working to introduce himself to the Dexter community and the school district staff as well, the announcement states.

Timmis was the only candidate interviewed for the position in June.

"The Board continues to be excited for Dr. Timmis' arrival and looks forward to his leadership as we and the rest of our team move Dexter Community Schools and our students to even greater accomplishments," the Board said in the announcement.

Anyone with questions or recommendations for Timmis can email him at timmisc@dexterschools.org.
